The Burning Question: PUBG or Fortnite?

It is to no one’s surprise, across the world most likely, when I raise a question like the one above – PUBG or Fortnite. Indeed just as Pokémon GO was once on everyone’s lips so too are battle royale giants PUBG and Fortnite. The games are both well known for dropping 100 players onto an island to scavenge for weapons and equipment whilst trying to avoid each other and then eventually gunning each other down in a hunger games manner. The best part is that the area that players are allowed to run across decreases in size as time passes forcing players to eventually confront each other in all-out war.

Since last year both games have seen phenomenal numbers in player base and coverage across channels such as Youtube and Twitch and only continue to grow in popularity since they’ve now also released on mobile. Although it would seem that PUBG is available to all while Fortnite is still only per invite on mobile. Having said this however there is also the fact that PUBG is still limited to Xbox One and PC (at a price but free on mobile) whereas Fortnite is available (for free) across all the main platforms such as PS4, Xbox One and PC (Nintendo I think it’s time to accept the calling). Then there’s the different art directions with PUBG taking the more realistic side of things and Fortnite heading into a more rainbow sided look on things.

Admittedly I have not played much of PUBG except for a few games on mobile and in all honesty, I wouldn’t call five or six rounds of Fortnite much either so I’m not in a position to judge which is better. In fact to each their own but in my personal choice and opinion, I would go more for Fortnite since it has better accessibility to acquire the battle royale side of the game and I just like colourful things! So my burning question this week is simple – PUBG or Fortnite?
