Rumour: Battle royale mode enters prototype phase for Battlefield 5

The entire world is losing its mind now that the battle royale mechanic has become so popular in games like PUBG and Fortnite. We heard a rumour that the next Call of Duty campaign mode will be dropped in favour of a battle royale mode and now it seems Battlefield 5 is hot on its heels to also include the popular mode in its next game.

Venture Beat reports:

DICE is investigating how a massive, last player-standing mode would work with its current mechanics. The studio has not yet approved its battle royale for release, and it is still in the prototype phase. If DICE does decide that it’s happy with what it has, it won’t have it ready in time for the initial release.

When compared to the news that dropped yesterday, it doesn’t seem like battle royale is going to have a major impact on the game. It might be popular, but it could release as an additional mode for download after it releases, which is just fine by us.

Venture Beat did ask EA for a comment and they declined it. Looks like E3 will be filled with battle royale everything.

Married to a gamer and she kicks my ass at most shooters. If the game is enjoyable I'll play it, no matter the format.
