Most of the big games these days come with some sort of photo mode attached to it. Uncharted 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed Origins and of course the stunning Horizon Zero Dawn all came with a photo mode. This mode is not only fun to play with, but it allows you to observe the tiny details developers put into each frame of the game. God of War is no different and comes with a fantastic photo mode.
In the early hours of this morning PlayStation hosted a livestream with several of the Santa Monica team members appearing on the panel, including the director, Cory Barlog. If you want to avoid all spoilers you definitely don’t want to watch the entire video below. The video below that we included starts at the 1:09:00 mark, where they speak about the photo mode, so don’t worry, nothing will be spoiled for you. What is surprising to hear Cory say is that the photo mode nearly did not make it into the game. In fact, it’s the last feature they included.
As you might expect it comes with everything you would want to see in a photo mode including filters, various camera settings and image sizes, but the bit that had me in laughter most of the time was the facial expressions. It’s just… weird to see Kratos smiling. By including a smiling Kratos it brings a whole lot of laughs to a simple photo mode. So, if you picked it up this morning be sure to give it a go. It looks like a lot of fun.
