Soon you’ll get to play your Steam games via a free official app on your mobile

With the popularity we’ve seen with the launch of the Switch and Nvidia’s plans to push their Shield technology even further, it was always going to be a matter of time until Valve was going to react with a counter decision of their own. At this time Steam games can be enjoyed on any PC and can be a mobile experience if you’re playing it on a laptop, but things are about to change in a very big way.

In the week of 21 May players will be able to download a free app on iOS and Android, named Steam Link. This app allows users to stream their games from their PC to mobile to play a game anywhere they want. Along with this, there will be support for bluetooth controllers such as the official Steam Controller. We’re not sure if the console controllers will be supported just yet, but chances are good that it will.

To get this working you are going to require a decent Wifi connection, so if you’re sitting with something a little weak it’s, unfortunately, a service that isn’t going to work for you. Of course, you’ll also be able to hook this up to your TV, should you have the required accessories to get it working.

Those of you who would like to play your games in your lounge with ease will soon have a very simple way to do so.

Married to a gamer and she kicks my ass at most shooters. If the game is enjoyable I'll play it, no matter the format.
