Will the real champions of the VS Gaming FIFA eWorld Cup please stand up

The past weekend we saw 1,024 players compete to win their share of the R1,5 million prize pool and top honours in the VS Gaming Xbox One and PlayStation 4 FIFA eWorld Cup tournament, with Shiaan Rugbeer claiming victory on the Xbox One, and 16-year-old Thabo Moloi blowing away the competition on PlayStation 4, each taking home a whopping R400,000 in prize money in the grand finals.

After acquiring the rights to host the FIFA eWorld Cup Qualifier in March 2018, VS Gaming has taken FIFA esports tournaments to new heights. Spokesperson for VS Gaming, Wanda Mkhize, stated that the event “was a historic moment for efootball in South Africa. Through this tournament South African players have now been given the international spotlight that they deserve. This is what it means for VS Gaming – to open new doors of possibility for our players and thereby grow our communities. We are proud of what we have been able to achieve this weekend. Over a thousand players competed to take on the worlds best and two of our South Africans will be able to compete on the world stage as a result. We are excited to see what the future holds for this sector.”

Apart from the waiting times for contestants to actually partake in the tournament, the start delays, and the arguably late announcement of the winners, The VS Gaming FIFA tournament has started an efootball revolution in this country and we hope to see more future events of it’s kind, with a bit of fine tuning here and there as well.
