With people moving more and more towards an instant gratification society, some games are announced in the year that they release. This helps to manage expectations and to get it to players while they are still excited about the idea. But games take a long time to make, so what happens if you announce it at the start of development? You get an announcement like this.
A rather sparse website has popped up for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 with a 2021 release window. This isn’t some trick, GSC Game World founder Sergiy Grygorovych posted about it on Facebook. Last we heard about the game was in December 2011, when the game was cancelled and the dev house closing its doors with many devs then forming Vostok games. Citing problems with getting investors and rights holders to disagree, the game fell off the face of the world.
Now the team is returning to the series or starting fresh on the development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2. For fans, this is great news, though with so much time between now and 2021 and the troubled past of this game, who knows what will happen this time around.
