That’s right people! Grab your wallets and all the 20c pieces you can find, Halo is officially heading to the arcades. Players who grew up in the 80s and 90s will find this an exciting prospect, but younger gamers might be a little confused right now. Either way, last night Microsoft hosted another Inside Xbox whereby 343 Industries announced that the Halo series is officially heading to arcades.
Unfortunately we can’t get too excited about that prospect in South Africa as arcades are pretty much dead these days and, secondly, it’s an initiative that’ll only be available in the US and Canada (later it’ll branch out to other countries). The game in question will be named Halo: Fireteam Raven and only be available at Dave & Busters in the United States. It’s being developed by Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix (while closely tied with 343 Industries) and according to them it’s going to be an arcade cabinet you’ll want to experience if you can. We can’t argue – it’ll be a 130-inch 4K screen with four turret-mounted machine guns for four-player cooperative play.
One look at the below video and it’s hard to not be a little envious.
