E3 2018: Square Enix

With Microsoft and Bethesda having brought the fire in their conferences it was only a matter of time until we saw what Square Enix had to offer and boy was it underwhelmingly sad.

The conference kicked off with the president and CEO talking about the titles coming this year and beyond and for fans to watch all the way to the end. Well, we did and crickets chirped once we were done.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

The first showcase of the evening was none other than Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Having seen a different trailer at the Microsoft conference this trailer was a lot more intense. We also got to see a decent piece of gameplay as Lara becomes “one with the jungle” as she uses the environment around her to take out enemies as stealthily as a Ninja with grappling techniques and wall running as well as full underwater exploration. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is set for the 14 September 2018.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood Under the Moonlight

Next up we get a peek into the Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood expansion with a shocking crossover with Monster Hunter World.

Life is Strange Captain Spirit

After my slight fanboy scream of Monster Hunter World crossing over with Final Fantasy, Square toned things down a bit with more on the next chapter of Life is Strange Captain Spirit. This trailer seemed to show off a lot less than what we saw at Microsoft shockingly. Life is Strange Captain Spirit is set for the 26 June 2018.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Next up is an electrifying showcase of Dragon Quest. A dark and enthralling trailer shows us just what the hero has to face. Although it seems like a lot of scenes that we’ve previously seen. However, the end of the trailer brought another interesting crossover – Final Fantasy Brave Exvius X Dragon Quest XI.

Babylon’s Fall

Following the Dragon Quest XI trailer, we find ourselves lost in a timeline of what seems to be an ever-changing world of war and punishment coming to PlayStation 4 and steam in 2019.

We are then shown the same announcement from Microsoft with Nier Automata coming to the Xbox.

Octopath Traveller

We then get a short trailer of the highly anticipated Octopath Traveller which is set for 13 July 2018.

Just Cause 4

An epic action trailer is then showcased of the infamous Rico Rodriguez followed by a voice over telling us all about the location that will now know destruction on a whole new level with new mechanics and gadgets in a sand box world experience filled with new vehicles and more intelligent enemies. Thank goodness it wasn’t the same thing as we saw at the Microsoft conference.

The Quiet Man

After the explosive trailer from Just Cause, we received a mysterious trailer that left us with more questions than answers. The trailer shows what appears to be a deaf man who takes out a few thugs and…crickets once again. The trailer did however advise that more is to come in August.

Kingdom Hearts III

And finally the moment everyone has been waiting for was a slap in the face with a trailer that was shown previously with a few added scenes. A look into the Hearts of Disney’s Kingdoms was sadly not what we all expected.
