After the mayhem of a Smash-filled Nintendo E3 presentation, few of us here in South Africa would’ve managed to stay awake for the Splatoon 2 World Championships. However, for those of you Splatoon 2 fans out there that did – you were rewarded with the news that the new single-player paid DLC Octo Expansion would be available a lot earlier than many may have expected, especially after so little was said during the main Nintendo E3 Direct – release date then was still just the vague “Summer 2018“.
Splatoon 2 producer Hisashi Nogami not only revealed that the game would be releasing on the evening of the 13th of June in the US (morning of the 14th of June for Europe – which in the world of Nintendo usually means South Africa too), but he also promised that the Splatoon 2 team was committed to continuing to support the game right into December 2018. So we can expect new content including more crazy fish/ink themed weapons and locations for the foreseeable future.
Finally, we also got a glimpse of three new cool looking ‘Octoling’ amiibos which should also be available this year.
After such a single-minded E3 Nintendo presentation, it was definitely good to see some love being shown to one of Nintendo’s most beloved new franchises too.
