Set your mind back to just over three weeks ago and you might recall Microsoft launching quite an impressive E3 media briefing in LA. They came swinging right out of the gates right up to the very last reveal trailer that had them showing off Cyberpunk 2077 for the very first time. It was a good show. One aspect that did get a little lost among all the hype for games was the FastTrack feature.
FastTrack allows players to jump into a game while it’s downloading, as before, but much earlier than they ever have in the past. According to Microsoft, it will cut that waiting time by half. It doesn’t download the content any quicker, but it prioritises the content that allows you the jump in earlier. So, don’t expect the full game to be downloaded quicker than before – that all comes down to your line speed at home. The good news is that this is available today with the Xbox One July update.
This update also includes other features such as more search options, mixed share controller improvements, full-screen broadcasting when using Mixer and the ability to group your games and apps. For a detailed look at the improvements, you can visit the official site.
