Xbox has its very big share of issues in the industry right now, but if there’s one area where they’re killing it, it’s in the hardware department. Fantastic Elite controllers, the Xbox One X being a powerhouse, the Xbox One S being a great option for a console buyer, all their peripherals, controllers for the disabled and so on. It’s what they’re good at right now, even if their offering of games isn’t exactly stellar. There seems to also be some more hardware coming up and they’re being predictably vague about it. According to the official blogpost,
This year at Gamescom, we will be hosting a special episode of Inside Xbox, broadcast live from our Xbox booth in the Koelnmesse. Tune in on Tuesday, August 21, at 4:30 p.m. CEST (7:30 a.m. PDT) for lots of news, all-new Xbox hardware and accessories, and features on upcoming titles that we can’t wait to tell you more about and perhaps even a few surprises!
Before you get excited, it’s probably not a new console. Unless they want to surprise the pants off of us, it wouldn’t happen at Gamescom of all places and there will probably be a bigger stir made if they were going to usher in a new generation of consoles. More than likely we’ll see something along the lines of the rumoured Xbox Elite 2 controller that has been reported to have USB-C charging and Bluetooth. The more optimistic of you might suspect some kind of VR or maybe even the return of the Kinect? I highly doubt the latter though.
The announcement will come during a live Inside Xbox show at Gamescom on the 21st of August. Don’t expect your world to be rocked, but there’s always the chance for surprises, like they said.
