The Diablo franchise is like rock ‘n roll. It’ll never die. We’ve been slaying demons and hellish creations for decades now and there’s nothing quite like it out there. Diablo III had an admittedly rocky start, but it flourished in the years since its release. Now it looks like you’ll be able to take it on the go with a Switch version being in the works. This has been rumoured for a while and Blizzard has said in the past that they’re working on multiple Diablo themed projects.
The news comes to us from a now deleted Forbes article that was captured by some budding redditors. It seems the news wasn’t supposed to be shared just yet, but the consensus is that it’s the real thing and places like Kotaku are backing this up as well. There is a chance that it’s some hocus pocus, but it doesn’t seem very likely. Apparently, the game will be called Diablo 3 Eternal Collection that will include all the expansions as well as the base Diablo 3 game. There will be Nintendo exclusive stuff in particular of The Legend of Zelda including a chicken pet which is the best thing ever. You can also do 4-player co-op on a single Switch or play online with your loot buddies.
Perhaps most interestingly, this is a Blizzard game releasing on the Switch. Nintendo and Blizzard haven’t been partners in forever and this can spell some changes to that as well. Maybe we’ll see Overwatch coming to the platform at some point? Time will tell, but for now, expect to be killing some demons.
