One Piece: World Seeker has to be one of the coolest anime games I’ve seen in a while, and the coolness just keeps on coming. During Gamescom this week, Bandai Namco released a brand new story trailer for World Seeker that fills in some of the gaps, and raises more questions, in terms of what the game will be about.
They definitely didn’t skimp on character reveals, now did they? Among others, Bandai Namco unveiled three adversaries Luffy will be facing on his quest; Borsalino (Kizaru), an admiral in the Marines, Admiral Issho (Fujitora), a gravity-controlling blind man, and lastly Rob Lucci, a member of the intelligence organisation directly controlled by the world government.
Now, for those who know, you probably realised that if they are introducing Rob Lucci, it means that the story for the game either expands on the manga or will be including pre-new world story. If we believe that this is true, then World Seeker is going to be huge. And I know it’s a JRPG, so it was going to be big to start off with, but this might be even bigger!
Accompanying this story trailer is rather long, and extensive, gameplay footage (thanks to DualShockers). It not only shows off general combat between you and soldiers on the field, but also the boss battle against Sakazuki (Admiral Akainu). It makes this game look so much fun!
Maybe one day we get more anime games like this, but for now, we have to stay vigilant because One Piece: World Seeker has yet to receive a solid release date. It’s said to be coming sometime in 2018, which gives Bandai only four months to complete the last finishing touches. Luckily, it will be hitting PC, XBO and PS4, so no-one will be left out in the cold.
