We’ve been inundated with Indie game news for the Switch platform of late, and while I’m not complaining I was hoping we’d hear something about one of Big N’s in-house franchises too. Happily, I was not disappointed when yesterday Nintendo revealed a new mode for one of my most highly-anticipated games for this year: Super Mario Party.
Now, of course with games like Spiderman and Red Dead Redemption soon launching on other platforms, and even Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee and Let’s Go Pikachu and Super Smash Bros Ultimate coming to the Switch this year, you may find it surprising that Super Mario Party would be the one game I’m most looking forward to. However, there is just something to be said about a fun couch co-op (mixed in with a little friendly PVP) game. And when the Mario Party series does it well, it really hits all those great ‘family-boardgame-evening/video-game’ notes. So I have high hopes for the Switch version.
As first spotted on Destructoid, Nintendo released a 10-minute Nintendo Treehouse video, which we have included below, which demonstrates the new River Survival Mode. In a nutshell, it is described as follows:
In this four player co-op mode, players will raft downstream, avoid obstacles, and take part in fun minigames.
Looks like some great collaborative co-op fun and if that’s right down your alley be sure to check out the video below.
