Nine months. It’s been nine months since PUBG entered Game Preview mode on Xbox One back in December 2017 and it has finally reached a point where PUBG Corp. believes the game is ready for a full-on launch of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds version 1.0.
The launch takes place on 4 September 2018, a mere two weeks away from the last update #18 that was released earlier this week, and surprisingly includes the new 4×4 Sanhok map that was recently released on PC along with an Event Pass that will seemingly also make its way to the console version. The Event Pass will offer goal orientated achievements to unlock cosmetic items within the game and offer in-game currency as well to open more crates. The game will release in both physical and digital form which includes all the above-mentioned features on top of items to commemorate the version 1.0 launch with Xbox themed apparel. Current owners of the game preview version will have their progression moved over to version 1.0 and will receive the new items in-game on the day of launch.
The launch brings with it the War Mode that debuted on PC, featuring squads of up to eight players battling it out in a respawn frenzy with specific loadouts so you don’t have to loot before taking someone down. A host of Xbox achievements will also be included and all your previous exploits will count in unlocking them. They’ve also launched a new PUBG themed controller that boasts a digital camo print on the face of the controller, and a first in introducing trigger grips.
With a record of 5 million game preview copies sold and the welcome inclusion of the Sanhok map, Xbox PUBG players will surely look forward to rumbling in the jungle come 4 September 2018.
