At this year’s Gamescom we were given an impressive glimpse into the exciting goings-on that Bandai Namco has put into One Piece: World Seeker so far. This open-world action adventure game got many a fan’s hearts racing with the reveal of not only the game but iconic characters that they will be facing off against. Unfortunately for those looking forward to seeing their favourite ship sail down the Grand Line, World Seeker has been delayed until 2019.
This news was officially broken by Chief Producer at Bandai, Koji Nakajima, in a press release this week. However, fans of the manga would probably have seen the image (below) that was released last week of this exact same announcement being in volume 90 of the One Piece manga. Either way, this is what Nakajima had to say:
If you were looking forward to this game, as well as a Kingdom Hearts fan then you’d know exactly how to handle this type of news. As for the rest of you, find solace in the fact that Bandai keeps your opinion of the game, and overall enjoyment of it, in high regard. They truly don’t want to
have an angry mob of weeaboo fans disappoint the gaming and anime communities.
One Piece: World Seeker might be taking a scenic route, but it is being developed for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and is set to release some time in 2019 as part of the One Piece Big Projects 20th-anniversary celebration. My only question is, where’s a time skip when you need one?
