After all the love Capcom received from the official big reveal of the first Resident Evil 2 remake footage at E3 earlier this year, they’ve hinted at working on more remakes. When you combine the nostalgia factor with a modern take on that old classic it’s bound to bring some form of success. Now there is someone in the know who says that Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is definitely already in development.
A user that goes by the name of DuskGolem on the Resetera forum mentioned that the PS1 classic remake is already underway in the Capcom headquarters. He seems to have close ties with Capcom as he correctly stated in the past that Not a Hero DLC was heading to Resident Evil VII. Here are his exact words:
I hope Code Veronica happens as I do feel it’s the RE game most in need of a remake, but RE3 is the last mainline RE game that needed a version for easier porting in the future (RE0, RE1, RE2 (after REmake 2 comes out), Code Veronica, RE4, RE5, RE6, RE7, Revelations & Revelations 2 all have versions on MT Framework and RE Engine that be ported to future consoles, only RE3 is missing after REmake 2). Code Veronica I think depends more on how well REmake 2 and REmake 3 does though.
We expect the Resident Evil 2 remake to do rather well for Capcom, so the possibilities of this being a prelude for a Resi 3 remake is quite obvious. Let’s hope this is another rumour that turns into something that is real because having to fight off Nemesis (after seeing Tyrant) is a tantalising prospect.
