With the 2018 Game Awards just around the corner, it’s safe to say that rumours are flying thick and fast. Unfortunately, with the internet and social media abuzz it does mean that retailers make the odd mistake and some clever pranksters get in on the hype, doing their best to manufacture so-called ‘evidence’ to be the first to make next big ‘new video game announcement’. Nothing like getting a few million tongues wagging and ensuring a few seconds in the spotlight.
One of the big recurring rumours has to do with the Metroid Prime Trilogy coming to the Switch. Two days ago, Swedish retailer Inet listed the game up on their site. However, thanks to information from My Nintendo News – turns out the game was listed despite the retailer also stating that they had put up the game based purely on a rumour. So not much to pin your hopes on there, and you’d think the rumours would die down.
However, this story just won’t go away and Liam Robertson (a well-known video game researcher and writer) yesterday threw even more fuel to the fire with the following tweet:
That retail listing is based on hearsay but Metroid Prime Trilogy on Switch is a real thing.

Does Roberston have some inside information? We’re not sure – however, if the announcement is due to happen during the show at least we don’t have to wait long to find out. However, with Metroid Prime 4 on the horizon, it does make some sense that the trilogy would come out a little earlier in order to whet fans’ appetites.
Metroid fans can dream, right?
