When Ed Boon walked onto the stage to present the best sport/racing category award, we all thought that any hope of a new Mortal Kombat game was over. How wrong we were. The next thing we knew lightning hit the stage to reveal the iconic Mortal Kombat logo and with that kicked off the first glimpse of Mortal Kombat 11.
We’re not that sure the music suited the trailer all that well, but one thing is for sure – it’s as gory as it’s ever been. We witness Raiden beating Scorpion to a pulp, followed by a more traditional Scorpion finishing off Raiden. What is going on? Well, according to their official Youtube channel the big addition is the ability to create customisable characters of your own in the next game. You can at the very least expect the traditional story mode to return as well.
“The all new Custom Character Variations give you unprecedented control to customize the fighters and make them your own. The new graphics engine showcasing every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment, brings you so close to the fight you can feel it. And featuring a roster of new and returning Klassic Fighters, Mortal Kombat’s best in class cinematic story mode continues the epic saga over 25 years in the making.”
As has become the norm for Netherealm games, a pre-order will gain you access to Shao Khan and Beta access.
Get over here for your first look at the next game that will launch on 23 April 2019 for PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One.
