Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds channels Fallout in space

Watching the trailer for Obsidian Entertainment’s new RPG The Outer Worlds, you can see the line being drawn in the sand, the theatrical gauntlet toss at the feet of Bethesda. “From the original¬†creators of Fallout” the trailer states, after showing off a sci-fi setting on the edge of the galaxy.

The first trailer was shown at The Game Awards and after a small tease beforehand, not much had been revealed of the new RPG. It is a first-person game that has that same charm as Fallout in aesthetic: sci-fi weapons with old-school company advertisements all over the town.

The game shows several NPCs that you will meet in your travels, some of the guns and what looks like planetfall in a landing pod. It looks vibrant, emotional and full of life and while playing a catchy song, the trailer reminds you that Obsidian made Fallout and Fallout: New Vegas.

Oh and try not to break it. Masterful.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
