It’s hard to believe that Electronic Arts is about the only major publisher who hasn’t jumped on the shared-world multiplayer bandwagon yet, but that is about to change with the release of Anthem in the next couple of weeks. With the game not too far off, Bioware revealed a full mission called Lost Arcanist via IGN in order to give us a bit of an idea of what to expect when the game launches come 22 February:
The gameplay (labelled as Alpha Gameplay) shows some exploration and the combat capabilities of the three main Javelins the Interceptor, Storm, and Colossus. Each one seems to play a different role and the combat seems to be fun and interesting. There’s also a fair amount of traversal and flying around in the gameplay, which shows the lush jungle environment of the game. Looking at the video, you can clearly see the Mass Effect influence on the game, especially Mass Effect: Andromeda, and while that game wasn’t that well received, it did receive some praise for the gameplay and combat.
There’s a lot of people interested in Anthem, seeing as Bioware have made some incredible RPG games over the years, but there’s also understandably some doubts because of the studio’s recent issues as well as EA’s involvement. What we do know is that they’re ramping up the marketing and promotion of the game, and we’ll get a lot more info in order to make informed decisions going forward. We also have an open Beta running on all platforms (PS4, Xbox One and PC) from 1 – 3 February, so we will be able to give it a bash before launch later in that month.
The Open Demo is from February 1–3, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Origin for PC. #AnthemGame
