Over the weekend Square Enix revealed a whole bunch regarding the next expansion for Final Fantasy XIV at the FFXIV Fan Fest. Shadowbringers will launch on PC and PS4 on July 2 and it has some tasty additions.
A new playable race, the Viera, will be joining the ranks of heroes. Many Final Fantasy fans will know Viera because of Final Fantasy XII’s Fran, the rabbit-eared partner of Balthier. Players will encounter new beast tribes, namely the Nu Mou, dwarves and pixies and on or the new trials will be against the ruler of the pixies, Titania.
One of the new classes for Shadowbringers was announced, called the Gunbreaker. This tank class has a gunblade, finally bringing Final Fantasy VIII’s signature weapon to the mix. The game’s level cap increases from 70 to 80 and players will explore new areas such as Rak’Tika Greatwood, Amh Araeng, and Il Mheg.
Shadowbringers will also have a Nier: Automata crossover called YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse.
Players will be able to play the main scenario dungeons solo with the new Trust system giving access to prominent NPCs and those wanting to relive old adventures will be able to do so thanks to the New Game+ system.
Here is the extended cinematic trailer, which shows off the Warrior of Light, a few NPC redesigns and the Gunbreaker in action.
