The Pokémon Center teams up with Funko

If you’ve been to a comic book store recently, browsed the toy section in a store (depending on the store, I know) or have even been shopping online, I’m sure you’ve come across Funko Pop! figurines. Adorable…mostly…figurines depicting characters from a massive range of pop cultures. This, not only includes characters from comics, anime, movies and popular television series but also characters from video games. An example of a recently released set of characters based on a video game is none other than the Fortnite set of characters. And to my delight, and I’m sure many others out there, Funko has announced another popular series that’ll soon hit Pokémon Centers around the world. A Pokémon Funko series featuring the infamous Pikachu.

According to The Pokémon Company, Funko has teamed up with Pokémon Centers to release the figures. From the 13th of February a new series of Funko that’s being called ‘A Day with Pikachu’ will be released once a month. Each month’s Pikachu will be customised to a certain theme. With the first being ‘One Lucky Day’.

  • A Day with Pikachu: One Lucky Day
  • A Day with Pikachu: Rainy Day Pokémon
  • A Day with Pikachu: Blooming Curiosity
  • A Day with Pikachu: Sweet Days Are Here
  • A Day with Pikachu: Sparking Up a Celebration
  • A Day with Pikachu: Splashing Away Summer
  • A Day with Pikachu: Charged Up for Game Day
  • A Day with Pikachu: Surprises to Fall For
  • A Day with Pikachu: Completely Thank-Full
  • A Day with Pikachu: A Cool New Friend
  • A Day with Pikachu: Ringing In the Fun
  • A Day with Pikachu: Surprising Weather Ahead

As cute as they are though, there are talks across the web that November’s figurine ‘A Cool New Friend’ may just be a tease for the release of the next generation of Pokémon, since it has been announced that we’ll be receiving a new Pokémon title this year on the Nintendo Switch. Of course just as it is with everything on the internet, we have to take it all with a pinch of salt.

Some of you may be asking…”but what about us who can’t make it to the Pokémon Centers?”…well Funko has us covered. They also announced that on the 27th of February, they’ll be releasing the Kanto regions grass type starter Pokémon, Bulbasaur. They also mentioned that more Pokémon will be coming to the lineup. So make sure you keep an eye out at your local or online retailers that stock Funko.
