It seems to have taken forever, but some of the finest CRPGs are heading to consoles in the near future. Skybound Games has teamed up with Beamdog to port the enhanced editions of Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate II, Neverwinter Nights, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale and Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear. The announcement doesn’t specify which consoles, but it makes sense that the consoles in mind involve the PS4, Xbox One and Switch.
“We’re excited to bring Beamdog’s incredible slate to new platforms for both the dedicated fan and those who will soon discover these adventures for the first time. As longtime fans of Baldur’s Gate and Dungeons & Dragons, it’s fantastic to partner with Beamdog as the newest member of the Skybound family,” said Skybound CEO, Ian Howe.
I look forward to the chance to relive some of my favourite CRPGs, and the idea of finally being able to share these titles with others is making me quite happy. Finally people who don’t play games on PC will be able to play these titles and while they probably won’t have the same impact as they did playing them at launch, they are still in for a treat.
