Ubisoft has been on an upswing when it comes to public perception. Their games have seen quite a bump in quality as well as longevity since people are still playing their older games that have received frequent and substantial updates. But one has to wonder about the future of Ubisoft and what they have up their sleeves for the coming year. Well, it seems there will be at least four candidates.
During Ubisoft’s latest earning call, they have stated that during the next financial year, which runs from April 1st 2019 to March 31st 2020, they’ll be planning on releasing three to four AAA games in that time. Since Far Cry New Dawn doesn’t count, there’s a lot of potential candidates for what might come out. I’m fairly certain that the pirate themed ship fighting simulator, Skull and Bones will see a release this year. Assassin’s Creed isn’t an option either since the franchise will be taking another break this year.
That leaves us with a few other franchises. The Division 2 doesn’t count either since it releases in March. We can maybe see a new Splinter Cell game, something new in the Tom Clancy line of games, there’s a definite possibility that Watch Dogs 3 might make an appearance or we can be totally surprised and see a new Prince of Persia game.
The only way we’ll find out is to wait and as is usual, we’ll probably see most of the announcements on the E3 stage. But so far it sounds like 2019’s financial year is going to be a hoot for Ubisoft.
