HZD celebrates two year anniversary with fun behind-the-scenes details

Yesterday was Horizon Zero Dawn‘s two year anniversary. To mark the special day Hermen Hulst, Managing Director of Guerrilla Games, posted a special behind-the-scenes list of interesting details about the game’s development on the PlayStation Blog. The post is really worth a read, but some of the highlights include:

  • When development started on the game Killzone 3‘s Jammer served as a ‘placeholder’ for Aloy.
  • Dutch actress Hannah Hoekstra was cast thanks to the Conversation Director’s strong bout of flu.
  • A Chihuahua’s bark was included in the Watcher’s sound design.

Hulst also confirmed that HZD had now sold “well over 10 million copies worldwide” and thanked the community for the amazing support the game has received, both creatively and through “daily messages of appreciation from our players in 2019.”

Unfortunately, no information regarding a possible sequel was mentioned, but we are sure that Guerrilla is hard at work on something; Especially given the tone and scope of the blog post. The only question really, is whether HZD2 will be appearing in the current console generation or the next?
