Devil May Cry 5 may be more censored on PS4 than other versions

Sony has seen a bit of criticism in recent times for over-censoring games being released on the PlayStation 4. It hasn’t really bothered people too much since it was mostly on Anime visual novels, but it now appears to have hit the mainstream as well.

Devil May Cry 5 released last week and it is quite safe to say that it’s a “mature” title. The scene in question covers up some parts of female character, Trish, with additional lense-flare in the PS4 version of the game, which is not present on the PC or Xbox One. You can check out the comparison over here, but do bear in mind that it does potentially contain some spoilers.

I did check out the video and the version on PS4 is actually quite jarring and frankly completely unnecessary. It’s also somewhat concerning that games are being censored in such a manner, especially for someone who prefer playing games on a Sony console. A game like Devil May Cry 5 is intended for a mature audience, so using an excuse of trying to protect minors won’t be good enough, since they’re not supposed to play the game in the first place.
