Hearthstone’s baddies take centre stage in Rise of Shadows

Blizzard just announced that the next expansion for Hearthstone is around the corner. The 135 card set is called Rise of Shadows, and the story has all the baddies of Hearthstone joining forces in the League of E.V.I.L.

After being defeated by the League of Explorers, Arch-Thief Rafaam has been plotting how to pull of his schemes, realising that joining forces with other villains would increase his chances. Get ready for Rafaam, King Togwaggle, Madam Lazul, Dr Boom and Hagatha the Witch working together.

Being a baddie means having subordinates, and the new Lackeys keyword lets you summon a 1/1 minion with a useful Battlecry effect. For spellslingers, the new Scheme keyword means the spell grows in strength each turn the card sits in your hand, meaning you can wait and plot for the perfect moment to set your Scheme in motion.

For those who don’t want to be the villains, the crime-fighting Defenders of Dalaran have a few tricks to foil these plotting baddies, like Twinspell, which give you a copy of the spell you just cast so that you can play it again later.

The Rise of Shadows is the first expansion for the Year of the Dragon and will be part of a year long story

Rise of Shadows goes live on April 9, with pre-release events on April 5.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
