Heroes of the Storm is removing the real money loot box purchase

Loot boxes, especially those that are bought with real money instead of being a box full of loot somewhere in your gaming world waiting for you to stumble on them, are not seen in the best light. Blizzard’s MOBA, Heroes of the Storm, is removing the option to throw money at loot boxes, making them something you can buy with gold that you get as you complete quests and level up in the game.

Players will still be able to buy gems to purchase experience boosts, heroes and cosmetics, but the money to random loot conveyor belt is no longer there.

This information was revealed in the latest test region patch notes. Without any fanfare or explanation, the notes read:

Loot chests are no longer available for Gem purchase
Rare loot chests are now available for Gold purchase (3000 each)

Rare loot chests will always include at least one rare item.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
