There’s a lot of people that are very excited about the upcoming Borderlands 3 release, but at the same time, there are quite a few unhappy folks out there regarding publisher 2K Game’s decision to make it a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store. So much so the community decided to do what they do best and throw their toys out the cot by review bombing older Borderlands games on Steam.
So much so in fact that it got a few people’s attention, such as Borderlands 3 developer Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford, and the powers that be at Steam. Pitchford said in a tweet that he’s not impressed with what’s happening, and the fact that Steam allows games to be review bombed like this could ironically make things worse for the Steam diehards:
Steam has in the meantime stepped in and started flagging reviews that don’t have anything to do with the game itself. So at least something is being done. Pitchford does have a point though, as the Steam hasn’t really done much to keep people in check over the years, whether it be horrible asset flipped games flooding the store or the community doing whatever they please.
Maybe it’s a good thing that Epic is gobbling up exclusive deals, forcing Steam to get off their laurels and do something about the state of their store since the monopoly they’ve been enjoying is now being broken.
