You can finally change your PSN username today

At long last a very simple, but much asked for feature will finally made available to PSN users. The ability to change the ridiculous username that has stuck with you since you were young and silly can now be changed. To go about it follow these steps:

On PS4:

  • Step 1: From your PS4 go to [Settings].
  • Step 2: Select [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Profile] > [Online ID].
  • Step 3: Enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.
  • Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.

On a Browser:

  • Step 1: Sign in to your PlayStation Network account and select PSN Profile in the menu.
  • Step 2: Select the Edit button that’s next to your Online ID.
  • Step 3: Enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.
  • Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.

There is a major catch to all of this. Users risk the chance of losing some crucial features when it comes to some games they own. This includes trophy progress, access to DLC that you might have purchased for an older title and parts of some games outright not working anymore. Games included in the list with such problems so far include Little Big Planet 3, The Golf Club 2, Everybody’s Golf, and Onrush.

So, unless you really don’t want that old username, think about this change before moving ahead with it. Also, be sure to read up on everything else you might need to know.

Married to a gamer and she kicks my ass at most shooters. If the game is enjoyable I'll play it, no matter the format.
