This weekend the Star Wars Celebration was held in Chicago and while a lot of the excitement was due to the reveal of Episode IX details – The Rise of Skywalker – Saturday was the day that had been earmarked for details about the new Star Wars game. And let’s be honest – there was a lot of concern in the air going in; EA had so far done very little with the Star Wars brand that anyone was that happy about.
However, thankfully, Respawn seems to have rubbed some of their magic on the partnership and what was announced did not disappoint. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be a completely single-player game with zero microtransactions. The story-driven experience will follow Cal Kestis – a survivor of Order 66 (the events at the end of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith). In the game, Kestis has to balance staying away from the Empire while learning to master the ways of the Force. Although no gameplay was shown this looks to be a lightsaber-and-Force-power-based melee adventure. There is a lot to take in so be sure to check out the full trailer below.
The game will be released on November 15, 2019, on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Personally, what I have seen and heard tells me that this looks like exactly the type of Star Wars game I was hoping for: A single-player, narrative-based adventure, with no microtransactions and lots of Jedi lightsaber stuff. I just can’t wait.
