Since the release of Pokémon Let’s Go, Meltan, a newly announced Pokémon has been available to players in Pokémon GO. The trick to acquiring this Pokémon though was that you would need to first send Pokémon from your Pokémon GO game to the Pokémon Let’s Go titles on the Nintendo Switch. Subsequently, players would receive a Mystery Box within Pokémon GO that activates Meltan’s appearance in the wild. This box grants users a once off use to capture any Meltan that spawns within a 30-minute window. Once done, the player can only receive another Mystery Box after seven days.
Now for those without the Let’s Go titles, Meltan is a rare treat indeed. And a few months ago, Niantic turned this treat into a golden treat by adding a shiny version of Meltan to the game. I was lucky enough to catch one, however, just as it is with any Pokémon fan out there, one is just not enough is it? So with the news of Niantic bringing the shiny Meltan back, you can only imagine fans’ excitement!
As of yesterday the 24th of April until the 5th of May trainers will not only be able to encounter shiny Meltan once again, but will be able to open the Mystery Box every three days opposed to the seven day period. So what are you waiting for, get out there trainers and catch those shiny Meltan…especially since you’ll need 400 candy to evolve Meltan into Melmetal.
If you’re unable to get your hands on a Mystery Box and live in the Johannesburg area, make sure you head to the Nintendo Switch Pop Up Zone in Sandton City Mall this Saturday from 9am and support the trainers participating in the Elite 4 challenge, battling it out to be the very best!! Each competitor will possess a copy of Let’s Go, and if you’re too shy to ask, just look for me (I’ll be the one with the Yoshi backpack) and I’ll be more than happy to trade with you for a Mystery Box.
