Studio Istolia, a sub-studio of Square Enix, is slowly being scoured from the internet. The Twitter and Facebook pages for the studio have been removed, its webpage redirects to the Square Enix holdings page and the video of the debut game, Project Prelude Rune, has been removed from Square Enix’s YouTube channel.
There was concern about the fate of Studio Istolia when Hideo Baba departed last month. It is unknown what will happen with Istolia’s new IP, Project Prelude Rune, as trailers and information about it have been removed from official channels.
When Baba resigned he said it was “to make room for the next generation,” but perhaps he had an idea of where the studio and its game project were heading.
Square Enix has yet to comment on why Studio Istolia and Project Prelude Rune are disappearing. Perhaps they were hoping it would quietly go away.
