Howdy folks and welcome back to another installment of Free Games Vrydag! Now that the silly season is over with things are starting to return back to normal and we’re settling in again for things to be quiet. I prefer it to be quiet, I need some time to catch up with my backlog. It’s also the final weekend of Game of Thrones and for those of us watching, it’s a huge event. No matter how it turns out, I’m just glad that Mondays won’t be a minefield of spoilers anymore.
Weekly wrap up!
It was a pretty low key week in terms of news. Our Wookiee Garth returned from the land of sin to give us some incredible coverage on the Warcraft Summit, so if you have any interest make sure to check out the videos and all the awesome coverage. Not only that, but he also did a great feature on five things we do in games that will suck in real life.
For reviews we’ve got Dawid blasting into the past with Rocket Knight Adventures and Zain broke his character of being the nicest man in the world and started sniping the hell out of some Nazis in Sniper Elite V2 Remaster.
Comment of the week!
We got a comment from our old buddy Kromas on my opinion piece all about how game delays are a good thing now and how that blows. Here’s what he had to say:
Hype has been a problem for years, but it’s even more of a thorn in our side now. I can’t agree more about what you said about when a trailer should launch. So many tragedies happened because games were revealed way too quickly and the developers still had no idea what they wanted to do. Having a trailer when a game is feature complete is a great way to prevent that so well done, Kromas.
Also, this comment made my week:
Thank you so much.
AND NOW WE WILL TALK IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE THIS GAME’S NAME IS ALSO AN ANGRY EMOTION. Okay no, let’s stop that. The perfectly fine and mentally sound winner of Rage 2 is none other than the magnificent:
Congratulations to Sulaiman for winning this week’s prize! We’ll be in contact with you soon to get your prize to you. Don’t go throwing boomerangs into people’s faces in real life, that is quite upsetting and also a crime.
Thanks to Gamefinity for sponsoring this week’s prize!
What’s happening this weekend?
If you’re ever wondering what the SA Gamer crew does on weekends, don’t wonder anymore! Here’s a little breakdown of how we’ll be spending our weekends:
Dawid: I have very little planned for the weekend. I’ll continue playing the Wildlands DLC and have this urge to play some Star Wars Episode 1 Racer on the N64. Oh, I plan to watch Die Hard 1-4, because 80/90s action movies FTW! [Someone needs to run a tally on how many times Dawid has mentioned Ghost Recon Wildlands. I swear he loves that game more than he loves me. Also, why Die Hard? It’s not Christmas yet.]
Garth: Hey I am back and the secret is out (Hey wait, did Marko make jokes about me last week?) about where I disappeared to. Now that things are back to normal and I am not squeezed into an aeroplane, I am stretching my legs in Rage 2, killing pretty much everything in sight. [He was in America and I didn’t know if I was allowed to make fun of him, but now I have the power again. Um… your beard is too perfect? I can’t.]
Charlie: I had a long and busy week, so I am really looking forward to the weekend. What I’m going to do and play, I don’t know. I might just sit in my chair for 48 hours straight, staring into the void of a TV that is off. All I know it’s going to be bliss. [I might just join you in staring into the void. I’ll be Simon, you be Garfunkle.]
Tim: All the football is finally drawing to a close so this weekend I should have more time to devote to video games. I should be checking out Starlink again to try out the new DLC, returning to BoxBoy+Boxgirl co-op with my awesome wife and maybe even jumping back into Celeste to attempt some of the ridiculous B-Side levels. Other than that Saturday is the monthly Nintendo Day at the Nexus so looking forward to checking out what they have in store for us this time around. [This man and the amount of stuff he does on a weekly basis. I don’t know how he does it. He probably ate a mushroom somewhere that gave him superpowers. Last time I ate a mushroom I thought my cat was a Cerberus and my walls were trying to communicate.]
Marko: I’m doing stuff in the VR world this weekend which is fun. Can’t talk about it just yet, but it involves hitting stuff and I’m so glad I don’t have children because I might kill them. Other than that, I want to dive into my backlog a little and play some things I’ve been meaning to. I know, fool’s errand, but all we can do is try.
And that’s another week in May done. I know it’s the weather again, but it’s getting chilly now even by the coast and I’m so looking forward to snuggling and gaming. It’s probably the best time in the world. I hope you folks are enjoying your games, enjoying your time here and just enjoying life. Do something nice this weekend, hug a tree or something and then come back again next week for more gaming goodness!
