It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to gather that the reaction to Sonic’s live-action movie trailer wasn’t all that good. Fans from all over the world lost their minds when the blue furball ended up looking like a mascot that nightmares are made of. His teeth were wrong, his eyes were wrong and his white gloves were missing. Everything that made Sonic, Sonic, was missing. The movie has now been delayed into 2020 to fix all this.
We reported a few weeks back that the movie will see a delay to fix the CG. Some people were worried that staff will have to go through an incredible crunch to get it out in time for the release later this year, but thankfully the producers have come to their senses and the movie has instead been delayed into 2020.
The very first thing you might notice is that Sonic now comes with white gloves, as indicated in that Tweet image. That is a great news for fans. While fans should never completely dictate the direction of a movie, Sonic’s resemblance should also not go so far off the rails. We’re glad this is being fixed and that no graphics artist will be killing themselves for this. Hopefully his resemblance is closer to the Sonic on the right in that feature image some fan came up with.
