The Darksiders franchise is changing camera angles, with Darksiders Genesis taking the game to a whole new genre. Strife, the fourth horseman of the apocalypse, picks up his guns and gets to work in a top-down adventure that looks like a mix of Diablo hack-and-slash with some adventure game jumping and puzzles.
THQ Nordic and Airship Sydicate are working on Darksiders Genesis, which is playable at E3, so more information should become available later this week. The game will release on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and Google Stadia.
The story follows Strife trying to prevent humanity from being wiped out by Lucifer. Get ready to explore, fight, solve puzzles, fight big bosses and travel everywhere from Heaven to Hell and in-between.
It will be interesting to see how the franchise transitions from third person adventure to twin-stick shooter territory, but being a gunslinger it probably makes sense to create a space where Strife can shine. It doesn’t appear to only be about Strife, as the trailer shows War in action, his massive signature sword easily visible. I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole gang is playable with couch and online multiplayer. Yeah, the Diablo comparisons just keep coming.
