Kickstarter backers are fuming this morning. For the last four years Steam has been advertised as the platform that will host the much anticipated sequel to a Dreamcast classic series, Shenmue 3.
The game is expected to launch on 19 November for PC and PS4 and at the PC Games Show a new trailer had the Steam logo missing. Shortly thereafter the below message appeared on their official Kickstarter page:
We are happy to announce that Shenmue III for PC will be will be an Epic Games Store exclusive. Development for Shenmue III has been moving forward using Unreal Engine and the support we have received from Epic has been excellent. But most importantly, in looking for the most enjoyable experience on PC, it was decided together with Deep Silver after much discussion that the Epic Games Store would be the best distribution platform option.
A Twitter user asked whether a physical version will be available for purchase and the answer brought an end to any hoped of avoiding the Epic Store.
Best you get that Epic Store account if you plan on playing it on PC. Here is the official E3 trailer.
