Since Nintendo launched its two very successful mini consoles it seems everyone has had ‘mini retro console’ fever. We’ve since received the not-so-great PlayStation Classic and we already know that SEGA will officially be releasing the SEGA Mega Drive mini. Well, the TurboGrafx-16 mini is next and it’s coming to you from Konami.
The TurboGrafx-16 (or PC Engine as it’s known in European territories) never made a splash in South Africa and it’s why you might be a little confused by the existence of it at all. Those of you who bought some virtual console games on the Wii and Wii U would have perhaps downloaded some of the games that appeared on the console in that era. Many titles were arcade perfect games for the time (which was a big thing back then) and so far we have the details on the first six games:
- R-Type
- New Adventure Island
- Ninja Spirit
- Ys Book I & II
- Dungeon Explorer
- Alien Crush
Dungeon Explorer is a 5-player game, which will see them release a multitap for the mini console.
Each region will receive its own unique console as each country had a different look. Expect collector’s to fall over their own feet to claim each version. Here is your first official look at it:
