‘E3 is not as good when they’re not here’ says Spencer about Sony absence

By now I don’t think I have to paint my mancrush love for the man that is Phil Spencer. He’s a captain to be proud of and in a recent livestream with Giant Bomb his class shined through.

The fact that Sony and Activision were missing from E3 this year was felt by many a gamer, including those who are part of the games industry. When local media get together we feel like one big family, so we can imagine that these big names have that same sense of collaboration when they’re in the company of each other. When asked how he felt about them missing, Spencer had this to say:

I wish Sony was here. I wish Activision was here. I think E3 is not as good when they’re not here.

We’ve time-stamped it below, but head to 34:00 if it’s broken.

It does seem that Phil Spencer has a bromance building up with both Sony and Nintendo. Shawn Layden congratulated Spencer on his show at E3:

And Phil Spencer was quick to acknowledge their collaboration with Nintendo, with the Banjo-Kazooie reveal in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

A generation ago these big three players would have stabbed each other in the back at every opportunity they got (who’ll ever forget Sony’s stab at Microsoft’s expense back at their E3 2013 show?). The industry is now in a much better space and we agree with Spencer, we all missed Sony at E3.

Married to a gamer and she kicks my ass at most shooters. If the game is enjoyable I'll play it, no matter the format.
