Summer Games Done Quick sets a new record with $3 million raised

Summer Games Done Quick 2019 ended on a high note, announcing that the event raised $3,007,142 in one week, with the money going to charity organisation Doctors Without Borders. This supersedes last year’s record of $2.1 million.

The week-long event showcased a variety of speedruns, glitches and generally wonderful people doing something that they are really good at: playing games really fast and making use of all the glitches and tricks to bypass sections of levels or the game. SGDQ 2019 had just over 50,000 individual donations from just over 32,000 individual donors. Fans donated money to interact with streamers with funny shoutouts, voting on character names, or seeing specific games or changing the difficulty.

If you missed out on any of the action or perhaps had a busy weekend, then you can catch up on the official Games Done Quick YouTube channel, where the streams get added later for easy viewing and linking to friends.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
