The Outer Worlds will have multiple endings depending on the choices you made during your playthrough. One of these choices is made fairly early on in the game and will decide the major direction of the game, but many others will mutate how things end up.
Talking with VGC, co-director of The Outer Worlds Leonard Boyarsky said that there are two core path choices and a lot depends on an early choice to side with Phineas or The Board.
“After that you get a whole series of slides that talk about the results of your actions and the consequences of the choices you made throughout the whole game. They talk about the different people that you encountered, the different areas that you entered, how you solved certain quests and what that means for the future of the colony.”
After a long game, it is useful to have reminders not only of what you did, but how those choices impacted the lives of those you interacted with, and if your adventurous meddling really turned things out for the better or not.
“There are quite a few different endings. I haven’t added up all the different permutations, but there are quite a lot of variations.”
The Outer Worlds is set to release on October 25, 2019 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
