FGV winner is Crashing- and our weekly wrap up!

Well howdy there on this cold lazy day in July. Everything in the world feels so slow this month, especially the gaming news, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a good thing. Our lives are so crazy that it’s sometimes good when things are a little boring. Not that it’s boring all the time, a few nights ago I was killing Nazis in a blood-fueled rage in Wolfenstein II and if that’s boring then things went very wrong somewhere. Anyway, that concludes our rambling introduction, let’s jump into the good stuff.

Weekly wrap up!

I’m just putting this here with no context.

If you’ve ever tried to extract blood out of a rock, you might know what it felt like to find news this week. The industry is in hibernation like a big old bear that sometimes tries to mug you. But, there are some spots of interesting stuff happening like Nintendo announcing the Switch Lite. I have seen quite enough lightswitch jokes by now about that, thank you. But it looks cool for someone who wants a totally portable Switch. The games are great either way, so go Nintendo!

Only a couple of reviews this week, the first being Zain building his blocky butt off in Dragon Quest Builders and the second being Charlie who got wet and emotional in Sea of Solitude.

I made a list of five games that allow you to be super stylish in the way you kill people and to answer your question, yes, I am on a list now. You too.

Comment of the week!

We got an awesome answer from ColonelJakesZA on the Burning Question that asked which game you always go back to:

Just an awesome, awesome answer. Also, I entirely relate. I know I always talk about how much fun I have when I bathe in the blood of my enemies, but like you I also enjoy the zen of space trucking and actual trucking. It takes your mind off the scary outside world for a bit and trust me, that place is scary.

The winners!

As you can see, we’ve been mixing it up with the prizes this week. We got this awesome Crash Bandicoot Cable Guys figure to give away and our lucky winner is none other than:

Hanli Smith

Congrats to Hanli for winning this fantastic prize! We’ll be in contact with you soon to get your prize to you. Enjoy your new son.

Thanks to Gamefinity for sponsoring this week’s prize!

What’s happening this weekend?

If you’re ever wondering what the SA Gamer crew does on weekends, don’t wonder anymore! Here’s a little breakdown of how we’ll be spending our weekends:

Dawid: It’s a wash, rinse, repeat weekend as it’s all about sport for me. The Cricket World Cup final, Wimbledon men and woman final and British F1 race is going to keep me real busy. I also have a date with a Logitech steering wheel for review on the Xbox One, so expect me to test various racing games for a review next week. I can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend to be quite honest. [I can think of a few. Most of those scenarios involve illegal narcotics and some loose morals. Or as I like to call it, my teenage years.]

Garth: It appears it is my turn to play the Social card in here, because my weekend is busy enough that I will be asking for another weekend come Monday. I have roleplaying, board games and two different family visits happening this weekend, capped off with pressing deeper into the new WoW raid on Sunday night. [If you’re the social one now, do you replace Tim? Does that mean I have to have a crush on you now? Well, easiest job in the world right there.]

Charlie: I honestly don’t have much planned for the weekend. It’s the Cricket World Cup Final on Sunday, which I am very much looking forward to. What I’m playing? I don’t really know. I don’t want to get too invested in anything right now, which leaves me a little bit in limbo. Maybe I’ll give something short, like Moss in VR a go. [This man talking like he doesn’t have a backlog the size of Kilimanjaro on his back.]

Tim: Like Charlie, I’m also excited for the Cricket World Cup Final this weekend. I’ve also managed to sign up for Xbox Game Pass for PC this week and so I’m looking forward to trying out something new or at least something I haven’t played in a few years from the Xbox side of things. [I’m also excited for the Cricket World Cup Final. Mostly that last word though. Also, Xbox Game Pass for PC is INSANE and you should probably get it.]

Marko: Yes, Xbox Game Pass PC is so good that I’m a full-time PC gamer now. I’ve started Forza Horizon 4, I like my killing time in Wolfenstein II and I want to give The Messenger a little go this weekend as well. Besides that, man, you have no idea how much stuff I have to entertain myself. PS4, PSVR, PC gaming, knitting, Netflix binging, crocheting, you name it.

And we have finally reached the conclusion. If you read all that up there, thank you so much. My little words like to be seen. We hope you come on back for next week’s Free Games Vrydag where we’ll have something awesome to give away again!

I am way too tall, played way too many games and I love to write about what we love about games. In the end, I'm just being #Thabolicious
