Earlier this week, Xbox Germany got several people excited (and possibly in trouble) by tweeting about Final Fantasy VII Remake on Xbox One. This was apparently a mistake and was taken down shortly after, but the idea was out there.
This led to a lot of speculation and combing through previous trailers at any hint that maybe it wasn’t a Sony exclusive. One such thread was a press release from last month that said the game will “debut first” on PS4 on March 3, 2020. This, however, might have just been an awkward bit of marketing jargon inserted without any thought of the implications.
Because of the Xbox Germany slip-up, Square Enix has had to answer to many requests of clarification and comment on the issue. Square Enix has commented: “As previously announced, Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released for the PlayStation 4 on March 3rd 2020. We have no plans for other platforms.”
So if you don’t have a PlayStation 4 and were hoping for some time with Cloud and the gang, I have bad news for you.
