Respawn is already hard at work on curbing cheaters for more grievous offences. The worst of the lot get banned, with their MAC addresses logged so that they can’t just make a new account. Some cheaters and spammers have to play in a lobby together, keeping the bad apples in quarantine and giving them their just deserts. The next thing to crack down on isn’t as terrible, but still falls into cheating and Respawn is currently working out how to put a stop to it.
Over on the console version of Apex Legends, reports of players keep coming in that are using mouse and keyboard to play the game. While some games may opt to allow mouse and keyboard for console games, especially Xbox One titles, Apex Legends does not have that feature, so using it provides an unfair advantage.
While nothing concrete was mentioned yet. Respawn is aware of the problem and we will probably see a solution soon. Over on Reddit, community manager Jayfresh_Respawn mentioned the mouse and keyboard usage on console:
“Our stance on this? The short answer is: we don’t condone it. We are investigating ways to detect if players are doing it that we’re testing internally. That’s all we have to say on it for now but we’ll revisit this and talk about progress with detection and how we’ll address players that are using it in the near future.”
