Recently Remedy acquired the rights to publish any and all games in the Alan Wake series, which had many speculating that it’s now a given that Alan Wake 2 is probably already in production. You might want to tone that positive energy down just a little.
Sam Lake, the studio boss man, recently chatted to IGN where Alan Wake 2 came up in the discussion. The good news is that he is really keen to make a sequel for the much beloved game, but he’s just not sure if father time has been kind to mechanics that were acceptable close to a decade ago.
I want to make it. At this point, so much time has passed. I feel that the bar is higher in some ways. It needs to be done right if it’s ever done. Everything needs to click into place, which is really hard to make it happen. So many things, for these big games to be greenlit, need to be aligned. But I’m hoping that someday…
