Over the last few years, many people have started to air their concerns about the future of E3. Sony’s absence this year and the recent leak of journalists’ and other industry figure’s personal details have only reinforced this worry. While it may not be all doom and gloom right now, it seems clear that in order to survive the show needs to adapt. And perhaps even take a leaf out of the book of events like Gamescom. The Cologne-based video games trade fair boasted an attendance of over 370 000 visitors from 114 countries last year. And it seems this year it will only be getting bigger.
Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley yesterday tweeted that more than fifteen publishers would be premiering new content/announcements at the show:
Amongst the long list of prestigious names above, SEGA later confirmed that their presentation would include the revelation of a mystery AAA title (according to Nintendo Life). It’s all very exciting and with the show now less than two weeks away, be sure to keep your eyes on SA Gamer for all the Gamescom hands-on info you need.
