You’re invited to join SA Gamer for weekly online game sessions

Some of you might be well aware of this, but for those who aren’t, we host several online game sessions every single week. In fact, I’ve been hosting Mario Kart Tuesday every night since 2008. We keep it to a small select number of games that otherwise don’t get the attention it deserves in South Africa. The aim is simple – to all just have a good time.

We’re inviting you all to join us. Whether you own a PS4, Switch or Xbox One, there might be something that interests you. These titles won’t change, which means you know what game we play every single week without question. Our weekly schedule is as follows:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch): Tuesday @ 21.00

Up to 12 spots can be filled and often gets filled up. If you would like to join in on the fun then be sure to add your friend code on our Discord server where we keep tabs of all the new players. We also use our Discord for voice chat, because, let’s be honest, Nintendo’s setup is just not ideal.

Splatoon 2 (Switch): Tuesday @ 22:00

Splatoon 2 is your general 4v4 battle and we try our best to keep it as fun as we can. That said, we do have some fantastic local players who run circles around me (there is a particular Fumble you best be aware of!). Again, we use our Discord server for voice chat to keep in touch with everyone. The lobbies can fill up real quick, so if you’re interested let us know.

Firewall: Zero Hour (PSVR): Thursday @ 20:00

It’s the PSVR game that came out of nowhere and jumped right into Marko, Charlie and my heart. This tactical 4v4 game is extremely addictive and perfect for short bursts of games. We play it for an hour and right now we need one more player to ensure we have a squad taking on the world every week. The standard Dualshock 4 works just fine, though it’s real immersive using the aim controller. If you would like to join us let us know. If there are four more players then we can arrange weekly 4v4 private games. Note: We’re still n00bs, but just enjoy this VR shooter immensely.

Wipeout Omega Collection (PS4/PSVR): Thursday @ 21:00

Due to popular demand (and the fact that it’s my all time favourite game on the planet), we’ll be hosting weekly sessions of Wipeout: The Omega Collection starting this coming Thursday. It’ll be added to PS Plus this month, so it’s just in time for you to give it a test drive online with us. We’ll be using the built-in tournament structure and leave it open to the public so we can fill the lobbies. Once we have enough local players we’ll make it via invite only. In total the game can accommodate eight players and if you feel like racing in VR or just on a standard TV – that’s your choice. PS – we race in VR, because we can.

F1 2019 (Xbox One): Friday @ 21:00

(Not every Friday – ties in with real-world F1 Calendar)

This particular event we host in conjunction with the folks over at Xbox Playdates. Every race weekend we tie our racing events in with that particular weekend. So, for example, for the coming three weeks there will be no race while the drivers head into their summer break. That Friday on 30 August we’ll host our next race session that ties in with the F1 calendar. We have two lobbies hosted, with the top drivers in lobby one and the guys just there to have a good time and perhaps not as skilled as the top drivers in lobby two. For more details, be sure to see our post that went live last Friday with all the details you could ever want. You also get to possibly win some big prizes in joining these.

As you can see, we have no current sessions on PC, but if there’s a game that you might want to play, let us know. Marko is always keen to join folks online for some PC goodness… and perhaps you can twist Garth’s arm for some RTS gaming?

You can add me on the following platforms:

  • PS4: dawid22ZA
  • Xbox One: dawid22
  • Switch: 5515-5853-2116

If you have any questions on any of the above sessions, do let us know. We’ll gladly answer questions and assist accordingly.

Married to a gamer and she kicks my ass at most shooters. If the game is enjoyable I'll play it, no matter the format.
