2K says loot boxes are not gambling but has a slot machine in NBA 2K20

Looking at the NBA 2K20 trailer for My Team, apparently people really like gambling mini-games and casinos, or something.

While many games are trying to cut back on microtransactions and loot boxes as legal battles and the outcry about their inclusion in games has caused it to leak into mainstream news and even affect company share prices, 2K appears to be embracing the business model. The trailer shows packs, cracking packs, evolving your cards and streamers getting very excited about gambling mini-games where balls drop into receptacles, or a slot machine matches three gems to give them some kind of currency or something.

Considering how good the actual basketball looks and how little time is dedicated to that aspect, it isn’t hard to hazard a guess as to what the focus is here.

The mini-games might not be gambling, but skinning items like a casino when everyone is questioning if loot boxes should be classified as gambling is quite something.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
