I have to admit, I tend to rarely use my amiibo. To me, they are miniature collectable figurines of some of my favourite characters, rather than something for in-game shenanigans. I think the last time I used amiibo was to unlock Nintendo-themed outfits in Bayonetta, but I might be using them soon in Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
If you felt like your dungeon exploration needed a little extra danger or chance at loot, you can use the new Link amiibo to summon Shadow Link, who will then chase you through the dungeon until you beat him.
It looks like a good way to get some rupees, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Shadow Link puts up a good fight and catches players unaware too, possibly causing a dungeon to end abruptly. Keep your wits about you and summon Shadow Link for some danger. Can you do the dungeon while being hounded? It also feels less like cheating than the Breath of the Wild amiibo which just showered you with crates full of items. You have to work for the money here, Link.
Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening releases on Switch on 20 September.
